Support—with the goal of reducing the adverse impacts of divorce on you and your children

When and why did we create this Group?

The California Surgeon General has underscored the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences which identifies the extent of the lifelong effects of traumatic experiences, such as divorce, on children and their families. As the study draws a direct line between the number of adverse experiences of a child, which includes divorce, and outcomes such as cancer, diabetes, fetal alcohol syndrome, obesity, anxiety, unintended pregnancy, PTSD, sleep disorders, cognitive impairment, dropping out of school, we recognized the need divorcing families have, particularly at this time, for support services. Wealthier families have the financial ability to obtain support resources, modest means families do not.

Therefore, we decided to create our organization, bridging the gap between these families and the resources they need to navigate through this difficult period. Significantly, it is the lack of these resources which often causes the parents to return to court demanding more money from a parent who may not have it, or bringing to the court’s attention the academic and/or behavioral demise of their child who is responding to the adverse experiences surrounding the divorce.
